Bachelor's Degree in Theology The Church of the Nazarene has always sustained that the call to ministry is also a call to prepare oneself for ministry. Education forms a significant part of that preparation. General education and theological education are necessary. The former prepares the minister to speak intelligently with any educated person; the latter, to use the resources of the Christian church in order to satisfy the needs of the world. The ideal level of preparation for the minister in the Church of the Nazarene is the Bachelor’s degree in Theology (Ministerial Development Guide 437.2). This program is offered by the Nazarene Seminary of the Americas (SENDAS) on the main campus in San José, Costa Rica, and in occasional intensive courses in selected cities in Nicaragua and Panama. The Bachelor’s degree program consists of a minimum of 134 credits.
