Ruben Fernandez y Monica Mastronardi de Fernandez

Ruben, Monica and their two grown children, Juan Manuel and Andres, are originally from Argentina. Ruben has served as the Rector of SENDAS since 1995. The Fernandez' served as pastors (1982-1990), and later as professors in theological education for different institutions (1986-1990 in their country. Ruben served as Academic Dean at the South American Nazarene Seminary (1990-1995) in Pilar, Argentina. Both have been ordained as elders in the Church of the Nazarene.

Ruben served as Director for MAC South (Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama) during 2000-2002, in addition to being the Seminary President. Additionally, since 1998, he has served as the Theological Education Regional Coordinator for Mexico, Central America and Panama (MAC). Dr. Fernandez has been a conference speaker on four continents and as a professor he specializes in the topics of leadership and church adminstration.

Monica serves as the Vice President of Instutitional Development for SENDAS and the General Editor of the School of Leadership Program for the MAC Region. Before, she served as the librarian and the administrative assistant to the President. In addition to her duties as Vice President, she teaches courses in discipleship, leadership, and church development at all levels of theological eduation. Dra. Monica has various publications including the well-known Basic Discipleship Lessons, which has been translated into twenty languages and dialects.

Dr. Fernandez has a Bachillerato in Ministerio Cristiano (Christian Ministry) from the South American Nazarene Seminary in Argentina, a Bachillerato en Teologia (Theology) from the Nazarene University, Costa Rica, a Licenciatura degree in Administracion de Recursos Eclesiasticos (Church Resources Management) from the Evangelic University of the Americas, Costa Rica, a Master’s degree in Ciencias de la Religion con mencion en Misiologia (Religion Sciences with mention in Missiology) from the Evangelic University of the Americas, Costa Rica and a Doctor of Ministry degree from the Nazarene Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Missouri, USA.

Dra. Fernandez has a degree in Bachillerato en Teologia (Bachelor degree in Theology) from the Nazarene University, Costa Rica, a Licenciatura in Administracion de Recursos Eclesiasticos (Licenciatura in Church Administration) from the Evangelic University of the Americas, Costa Rica, a Master's degree in Ciencias de la Religion con mencion en Misionologia (Religious Science with emphasis in Missiology) from the Evangelic University of the Americas, Costa Rica and a Doctor of Ministry degree from the Nazarene Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Missouri, USA.

Currently, Ruben and Monica are studying in the Doctoral program (PRODOLA) with the Universidad Evangelica de las Americas (Evangelical University of the Americas), broadening their horizons and enriching their ministries.
