Beginning and Operative Stage: Start of Classes (1970-1978)
President: Rev. W. Howard Conrad
--- Interim President: Rev. Louis Regains (1977)
On March 2, 1970, classes at the Seminary started and on the 8th of the same month and year, the school celebrated an inaugural service of the beginning of the Central America Nazarene Seminary.
In 1972 the first group graduated. There were a total of 10 students from different countries of Latin America. Six students from the countries of Guatemala, Panama, El Salvador and Peru graduated with the Bachelor in Theology degree and four students from Guatemala and Panama graduated with the Diploma in Theology degree.
During the following years, the Seminary started experiencing growth and developing more and more. Those changes were evident in the academic area and in the building of new School buildings. The growth was an important reason to change the name of the Seminary to include more countries in Latin America. Thus, a new name was chosen: Nazarene Seminary of the Americas.
As part of the developing of curriculum and levels of theological education, the Seminary started to confer the Licenciatura in Theology degree for those who had their high school completed. In November 1981, the first group of three students from Nicaragua and Peru graduated with this degree.
