As the Seminary was growing, new developments follow especially in curriculum and programs. By 1987, a review of the curriculum prompted adjustments to reach the required standards as a postgraduate school. By 1989, three different emphases were added to the Licenciatura and Bachelor degrees: Bible and Theology, Pastoral, and Christian Education. Also, In February of this year the Master's of Sciences in Religion Program started with 10 students from different countries.
In 1990, two schools of theology were established: Theology, and Church Resources Administration.
In 1992, the Seminary gained accreditation to become a University recognized by the Costa Rican government through the National Council of Post Graduate Private Education (CONESUP in Spanish), thus the seminary was now called Nazarene University of the Americas.
