MAC Region Hosts Holiness Summit
October 28-31, 2009

The MAC Region hosted the first ever Region-wide Holiness Summit on the campus of the Nazarene Seminary of the Americas from October 29-31. During the 3-day Summit, seven different preachers spoke on the topic of Holiness, using many Biblical texts including Acts chapter four.

There were more than 300 registered participants from all countries in the MAC Region as well as Nazarenes from the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Argentina, Brazil and The United States of America.

The first speaker, Dr. Christian Sarmiento, Regional Director of the South America Region, preached during a heavy rainstorm and the power of his message was felt not only in the words, but also through the power of the heavy rain. In the evening, General Superintendent Dr. Eugenio Duarte preached in front a packed house with more than 400 in the congregation.

The next morning, two speakers captivated the congregation with their holiness messages: Dr. Woody Stevens, Director of Sunday School Ministries and Dr. Roberto Hodgson, Director of Hispanic Ministries for the USA and Canada.  In the afternoon, Dr. Oliver Phillips, Director of Multicultural Ministries for USA and Canada, spoke dynamically about being “under the influence” of holiness. In the evening, Dr. Nina Gunter, General Superintendent Emeritus continued the holiness conversation by sharing 10 keys to holiness living.

On Saturday morning, Dr. Brian Wilson, District Superintendent of Chicago Central District, reminded the congregation of the life-changing power of holiness that leads to joy no matter the circumstances of life.  Dr. Carlos Saenz, MAC Regional Director, concluded the Holiness Summit as he led the congregation in Holy Communion.

The Lord was present in each service and the altars were full of those seeking a deeper relationship with Him.  Micaela Solis, a missionary from El Salvador serving in Guatemala, shared these words about her experience at the Holiness Summit: “The Summit was a blessing to my life because the Lord has spoken anew through His Word.”

Blas Segura from Panama had this to say about the Holiness Summit:  “I would like to thank each of the preachers who shared from the Word of God.  Each sermon impacted me and has opened the path for me to continue in my ministry.”

The Holiness Summit can be easily replicated and it is hoped that many districts in the MAC Region and beyond will hold their own Holiness Summit.

To God be the glory for what He has done in the first Holiness Summit on the MAC Region.
