Nazarene Seminary of the Americas Holds Annual Assembly
October 28-29, 2009

The Nazarene Seminary of the Americas in San Jose, Costa Rica recently held the Assembly with two days of meetings and trainings. The Assembly is an annual event attended by the Board of Trustees. Eleven members of the Board were present at the meeting, which was chaired by Dr. Carlos Saenz, Regional Director of the MAC Region.


The eleven members present included representation from three Regions: the Caribbean Region (Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico), the South America Region (Argentina, Uruguay and Brazil) and the Mexico and Central America Region (Mexico, Costa Rica, and Panama).

Also in attendance, Dr. Eugenio Duarte, General Superintendent and LeBron Fairbanks, Educational Commissioner.

Ruben Fernandez, President of the Seminary reported that in all programs, SENDAS registered a total of 1,041 students (5% growth) and graduated 33 students during this time period. Financially, the institution took in 35% more in registration fees. Since the year 2004, the grounds of the Seminary have been self-sufficient and in addition, in this year 26% of the earnings of the administration of the campus have been utilized in the educational mission of the Seminary.

Many other reports were received and accepted, reviewing the year 2008-09. Ruben Fernandez will continue as the President of the Seminary and many in attendance offered words of thanks for his leadership. The Board also congratulated the entire family of SENDAS by giving them a round of applause for a job well done in the last year.

Meetings were held on the 28th and Board training was held on the 29th, which was led by Dr. Fairbanks. Many members of the Board were able to extend their stay to enjoy the Holiness Summit with began on the afternoon of the 27th and concluded in the morning of October 31st.
