January Intensive Courses 2010

As in previous years, SENDAS began 2010 offering the January Intensive Term courses at the main campus in San Jose, Costa Rica.  This year, approximately twenty students attended at least one course during the month.



Some of the courses offered include Biblical and Theological Basis of the Family, Nazarene Identity, Methods and Planning of Theological Education, and The Church, Culture and Mission.
  
The courses are offered at three levels of theological education including the basic Course of Study – diploma level, the Bachelor level and the License level.  



One student from Nicaragua, Mauricio Alexander Gutierrez Amador, states that he finds the Intensive courses to be like a “gymnasium” where spiritual energy is renewed through the knowledge gained in the classes and through the sharing of ministry experiences from our own nations.”

Many students receive financial assistance to attend and in return for the assistance the students work each Saturday.  These scholarships help make it possible for students to study during the month of Intensive courses.



The students hold student-led chapel services each week, and they enjoy meeting together to worship and fellowship.

A student from Panama, Dina Lienabel, shares the following.  “I came to the Intensive courses for the first time in 2006 and since then I have tried to never miss this experience each January since I gain so much knowledge but in addition to that, I enjoy the fellowship of the students.”



In addition to the theology courses, Spanish courses were also offered in coordination with CALL (Christian Academy of Language and Learning). During Intensive courses, three students took part in the month long Spanish courses, all at the intermediate level.  The three Americans lived on campus with seminary students and enjoyed learning more about the cultures and people of MAC South.
