Those invited included the Superintendents of the Districts, Coordinators of the Decentralized programs, the course professors of ETED and students attending the Intensive courses.  There were more than 30 persons in attendance from the three countries, representing the vast diversity of the area.

The purpose of the retreat was to evaluate the current program as well as to inform and train administrators and educators about upcoming projects for the year 2010.

The trainings included topics such as “The Role of the Director and Coordinator of ETED,” presented by Professor Willie Jiron, and “How to Teach Adults,” presented by Dr. Dorothy Bullon.  Yuris Melendez, a participant from Panama shares that she learned the importance of being sensitive to the learning style of the student through this workshop and that the information was helpful to her as she can apply the information as she teaches adults in the local church as well as in the Diploma program in Panama.

ETEDworkshops

Dr. Ruben Fernandez announced the publication of 12 new educational modules for the Diploma programs in Mexico and Central America.  The modules contain a Leader Manual and student books and will be available beginning in March of this year.

Dr. Fernandez also presented another new resource focused on Discipleship and Leadership called Leadership School (Escuela de Liderazgo).  The purpose of this training class is to collaborate with the local church in the training “of the saints for ministry,” developing God-given gifts for the service of the congregation and society.  This program will be in April of 2010 throughout the MAC Region.

Another workshop included information about on-line courses as part of the ETED program.  Dr. Dorothy Bullon will teach the first class in April of this year.

The retreat was a great success with all participants learning more about the ETED program and the ways to best administrate, promote and teach.

Willie Jiron, Coordinator of the ETED program states, “We give thanks to God for having such success and satisfaction in the Retreat for ETED 2010.  This activity allows us the joy of meeting together with all the leaders of the program from the different districts of MAC South to share experiences, enthusiasm and culture.  A great time was had by all the participants while strengthening the educational programs.”
